Gentle space for unfolding stories

About Shirley

I am a PACFA‑registered clinical counsellor with more than 14 years of experience supporting individuals, families, and carers across Hong Kong and Australia. My background spans both social work and counselling, and this dual foundation shapes the way I walk alongside clients — with steadiness, clarity, and an appreciation for the systems, relationships, and cultural experiences that influence our wellbeing.

Across my years in practice, I have supported people navigating trauma, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, migration and cultural transitions, relationship challenges, and the quieter life moments that are often difficult to name. My counselling approach is humanistic, trauma‑informed, and integrative, drawing from modalities such as:

  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)

  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

  • Emotion‑Focused Therapy (EFT)

  • Narrative Therapy

  • Psychotherapy

I work gently and collaboratively, honouring the wisdom you already carry and moving at a pace that feels safe.

My experience in multidisciplinary care — including mental health, Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) services, community organisations, and cross‑cultural settings — informs my commitment to clear communication, ethical practice, and respectful collaboration with GPs and other health professionals when appropriate.

I offer sessions in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, through telehealth or in Perth. My practice is grounded in reflective work, ongoing supervision, and a belief that every person’s story deserves space, dignity, and careful attention.

The Story Behind the Painting

This painting brings together Australian native everlasting flowers and dandelions. As someone who migrated to Australia, I wanted to honour both the land I now call home and the journey that brought me here.

The everlasting flowers symbolise resilience, belonging, and the beauty of Australia’s landscape. The dandelion represents hope, stories carried by the wind, and the courage to begin again. Together, they remind me that while our roots may begin in different places, we all have the capacity to grow, heal, and flourish when given safety, care, and connection.
