About Shirley
I am a PACFA‑registered clinical counsellor with more than 14 years of experience supporting individuals, families, and carers across Hong Kong and Australia. My background spans both social work and counselling, and this dual foundation shapes the way I walk alongside clients — with steadiness, clarity, and an appreciation for the systems, relationships, and cultural experiences that influence our wellbeing.
Across my years in practice, I have supported people navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, emotional overwhelm, migration and cultural transitions, relationship challenges, and the quieter life moments that are often difficult to name. My counselling approach is humanistic, trauma‑informed, and integrative, drawing from modalities such as:
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
Emotion‑Focused Therapy (EFT)
Narrative Therapy
Psychotherapy
I have worked across a range of settings — including mental health, Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) services, schools, residential care, aged‑care centres, community organisations, and cross‑cultural environments. These experiences have shaped my commitment to clear communication, ethical practice, and effective, respectful collaboration with GPs and other professionals when needed.
I offer counselling in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, available via telehealth or in Perth. My practice is grounded in ongoing reflective work, regular supervision, and continued professional training. I hold a deep belief that every person’s story deserves to be listened to with care, carried with dignity, and honoured with respect.

The Story Behind the Painting
This painting brings together Australian everlasting flowers and the dandelions commonly seen in Hong Kong. As a Hong Kong person who has made Australia my home, I hope to carry my cultural roots and lived experiences with me as I support people from diverse backgrounds in this new land.
The everlasting flowers symbolise resilience, belonging, and the beauty of Australia’s landscape. The dandelion represents hope, stories carried by the wind, and the courage to begin again. Together, they remind me that while our roots may begin in different places, we all have the capacity to grow, heal, and flourish when given safety, care, and connection.
